ABOUT

My passion for design grew from my sculptural experiments during an Art Foundation on the beaches of Falmouth. My interests transformed from useless; pretty objects to functional and aesthetic design solutions. This change of vision took me onto Product and Furniture design at Northumbria University. At University my products aimed to solve problems for users and environments.

In my final year I focused my efforts on designing kitchen utensils for people with disabilities. My extensive research led me to analyse the efficiency of kitchens and I recognised a huge passion for solving interior; spatial problems in harmonious ways. This project also pushed me to focus on collaborating aesthetics and functionality with a specific client in mind. To expand my knowledge of interior design I worked as intern and eventually marketing executive for an up-start company throughout my final year of studies. Upon graduation I decided to follow the design PR route because of my love of sales and customer interaction.

Due to my degree I am now well trained in design computer programs such as Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, AutoCAD and SolidWorks. I am also very confident with prototyping techniques in modelling foam and 3D printing as well as producing high quality final products in a variety of woods, metals and plastics. I have experience with both group and personal projects and have thrived in both situations. I have worked well in groups under time pressures during design festivals. My success in groups has lead to many positions of responsibility such as taking charge of the Charity Auction rooms and taking care of important guest speakers. I have also achieved success in personal projects, for example my Highly Commended Second Place award designs for the RSA Student Design Awards.
